OHA make a $2,500 cash donation to the ODWC Fisheries Division

In an unprecedented announcement from the OHA Board of Directors, the OHA is giving its members, donors and partners a say in where their money goes. Rick Nolan, OHA president said, “I am not aware of any other conservation NGO that gives its donors a voice in where their donation goes. The OHAs motto is Raised Here – Stays Here and this opportunity takes its promise one step further”.

The OHA Board of Directors voted to make a monetary donation to the ODWC to be earmarked for a project directly related to the ODWC fisheries department. Setting aside $2,500 for the donation the OHA requested input from ODWC leadership. Their response included options for five different programs, each coming with a 4 to 1 match, turning the $2,500 donation into $10,000 worth of work on the ground, or should we say, on the water.

The OHA Board selected three of the options to be presented to its members, donors and partners for a vote. Giving those that have supported the OHA in the past a voice in where the funds will go.

If you have attended an OHA event, joined the organization or are a partner, keep an eye out for an email invitation to a survey to pick which ODWC project is your choice. OHA emails often land in junk or spam folders, so keep an eye out. The email will likely go out the second week of February.

The OHA is a 501c3, 100% volunteer driven with NO paid staff.

December 19 - 21 ~ OHA Mentored Doe Hunt

The 2025 2nd Annual Mentored Hunt at The Tatanka Ranch was another successful event for the OHA. An amazing weekend with a wonderful opportunity to mentor and foster a growing Hunting community. So thankful for The Tatanka Ranch for hosting and supporting our mission as well as the ODWC Game Wardens. Without OHA volunteers and their support this wouldn’t be possible. Special thanks go Game Warden Jacob Harriett for helping put this together alongside Jordan and Bryon Graves and Aaron Grill.

Thank you to all of our mentors, mentees and families, volunteers, and The Tatanka Ranch.

Oct 6, 2025 ~ ODWC Wildlife Commission Accepts Donation for Archery Range

Your Oklahoma Hunters and Anglers President Rick Nolan presented a $5,000 donation from the organization toward the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation’s new archery range at the Arcadia Conservation Education Area. With matching grants, the donation amounts to $50,000. Oklahoma Hunters and Anglers raised the funds through its popular Oklahoma Deer Hunting Expo, which broke an attendance record this summer.

Damon Springer, an ODWC senior communication and education specialist, said the archery complex is in the planning and engineering phase, which should be completed next spring.

“When we do get (the range) all set up and done, it’s going to be a state-of-the-art facility right here in the metro. … I know it’s going to be a very popular area and something we’re going to be proud of,” Springer said.
